The KansasFest Committee takes the safety and well-being of KansasFest attendees seriously. In the past few years, we have implemented a variety of policies to keep attendees safe and healthy. While the committee can provide guidance and policies, it is each attendee’s responsibility to monitor their own well-being and do their part to keep everyone safe.
Unlike conferences at hotels or convention centers, KansasFest is unique in that attendees stay in a college dormitory and spend significant time in proximity to each other. While this is great for camaraderie and collaboration, it also increases the risk of outbreaks of colds, flu, and diseases such as COVID-19. Because of this risk:
- We expect attendees to monitor their own health.
- We suggest taking a COVID/Flu test before leaving home or arriving at KansasFest.
- If you feel unwell or have symptoms of sickness, it is your responsibility to be proactive in limiting your contact with others. This could include staying in your room and watching the event virtually, eating meals separately, wearing a mask around others, or departing the conference. Please contact a committee member for help with any of these options.
- If you do need to self-isolate, the committee will assign someone to monitor your condition. The committee can also arrange rides to a pharmacy, urgent care, or a hospital as necessary.
- KansasFest will have a supply of masks and hand sanitizer available in the common areas, as well as a limited supply of COVID-19 tests. Please avail yourself of these.
- If you do become sick, please notify a committee member as well as others that you might have come in contact with.
- KansasFest has a generous refund policy. If you are unable to attend because of illness or need to leave early, be sure to contact the committee to discuss refund options.
With everyone’s help, we trust that this year’s KansasFest will be healthy, safe, and enjoyable. Thanks for your cooperation.
